January 2026 Newsletter
I’m trying to remember how to use this web site. It is presently January 18, 2026. That’s right, Martin Luther King Day weekend. This has been the best year we have had for grooming in a long time. We started grooming the first day of December with some very good snow. We have had some good snow since, but we also had a thaw that caused our base to turn to ice. Unfortunately, a lot of sleds ran the trails during that time on the wet snow and now it has frozen in a less than a smooth state. Hopefully we will get the right consistency of snow to build a base on top of that. Right now, the snow is soft and doesn’t hold up to traffic very well, so it is bumpy shortly after grooming.
We are running with one tractor on tracks and the other on wheels. I understand everyone has been having lots of problems with their track maintenance. It took us months to get D1’s tracks fixed (trouble with bogey wheel bearings) and then D2 also had track problems so we pulled them and put her on wheels. It isn’t half the tractor it was. Maybe we can put it on duels this summer and that will help.
Sounds like we are expecting lots of snow this week and some really cold temperatures. Get out there and ride while you can and I’ll see you later.
