Building Project – No progress

Trail Maintenance – Groomer drivers have been out daily working extra hard to put the trails back into shape after the warm temperatures and rain we received in early February. In addition to the weather issues, one of the John Deere tractors was down for repair for a week reducing our grooming capability by 1/3. Good news, all three groomers are back up and running. Even with all the traffic over the long three day Presidents weekend our trail system was in great shape thanks to the effort of our groomer drivers.

A group of riders from Ohio reported our trails were in excellent condition and thanked the drivers for their hard work and dedication with a pizza party.

Members Wanted – Where are all the younger snowmobilers? On the trails, riding according to MSA but not joining clubs. The active age of club members is going up that is good news however membership numbers are declining across the State that is the bad news. New snowmobilers are not joining clubs as we did when we started snowmobiling. Without members, active members clubs across Michigan will start to disappear and if that happens what will happen to the trails we all enjoy riding. Clubs are finding it harder to get younger people involved so how do we turn that around. If individuals you ride with are currently not members of a club invite them to join one and hopefully it will be AVSA. The future of snowmobiling depends on the generation of riders and their greater involvement.

General Membership Meetings– Our next meeting will be March 3, 2016 at the Ramada Inn of Grayling starting at 7: pm. AVSA meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Safe Riding – Remember safe riding starts with you! Ride sober!
